Hello everyone!
I’ve been writing on Substack for some months now and getting used to how it works and what kind of features are available through it. As I continue to release each chapter of The Nationalist, I am going to also be releasing chapters of some of my other writings.
Now before you think you are going to start getting 3-4 emails a week from me, let me say that you will still only receive 1 email a week from me. I don’t want to boggle down your inbox because I don’t like it when companies or other newsletters do that to my inbox either. I get 100’s every day!
I have 2 new stories in the works. One is still very much in beta mode which is actually just the planning and brainstorming mode so it may not be ready to unleash for another few months (insert sad face). The other story is one that I worked on in the past, created about 10 chapters for and then stopped. This story is called The Shoes that Charlotte Wore.
Instead of editing and reworking what I wrote 10 years ago, I’ve decided to scrap the original story and rewrite it. If any of you are writers out there then you know how difficult it can be to rework something you already wrote with a ton of edits. The basic skeleton of the story remains the same however some details and events have been changed to better fit a story that will flow from beginning to end.
TSTCW (I don’t know if I should abbreviate it…looks kind of weird but anyway) is a fantasy/horror with a little murder mystery and a few twists. Blood and guts will be minimal but you can think of it like X (the anime) meets The Mortal Instruments. The main difference is that our heroine is not a teenager, she’s 21.
While I am still writing TSTCW, what I post here weekly will be pretty raw with basic editing. Meaning that I would have at least gone through it once or twice for errors. I WILL NOT be sending a separate newsletter email for this story. Instead, there will be a link for it at the beginning of The Nationalist so that you can go to it if you want to read it.
In the end, it will probably be between 30,000-40,000 words. I plan to release it in full for download shortly after it is completed. Let’s see how that goes because planning something often differs from reality.
On another note, I am so excited for Halloween. I’m making our costumes this year and still have lots of sewing to do. My sewing skills are very basic so I’ve been going to YouTube college to learn how to properly use a sewing machine. What are we going to be? Piggy from Roblox! Demon, Angel, and Zombie Piggy. Keeping my fingers crossed that they come out good.
Have a beautiful day!
Alicia
